Law of an artisan with Laura Hodgson (Owner of Finn Interiors) as Featured by Restore Magazine

Finn Interiors specialises in creating bespoke furniture, interiors and styling homes. I’ve always had a passion for interiors. After buying my own home and renovating it I knew I wanted to pursue a career in interiors but just never knew how to get into it nor did I have the confidence to step outside of my comfort zone. I am a lawyer and alongside Finn Interiors still work two days a week for a law firm. Finn Interiors was named after my little boy Finley.

Whilst renovating my own home I was always drawn to things that were unusual and different but that often came with a high price tag that I could not afford. I can remember saving for months so I could just buy a vase I loved from Dwell!

Does anyone else hate it when you buy that new dress and turn up to a wedding and someone else has the same dress on? I do! This is how I feel when I walk into someone else’s home and they have the same wallpaper or furniture as me.  Your home space should be just as important as so many other things in your life as it is where you spend most of your time so it needs to incorporate things you love!

This is the reason I picked up a paint brush and some tools and refinished some sentimental furniture that was my late grandparents and it turned out better than I expected. I did a few more pieces for my home, which family and friends complimented me on. I decided to set up Finn Interiors so I could share my passion for interiors with others and create what they really want in their home.

I am busy with commission work and in between this I create my rustic textured vases using saltwash, which sell well online. I also do like to take a break sometimes from commissions and get creative on my own pieces. I always have a small selection of pieces up for sale. I love anything that has texture added to it and a rustic worn but still contemporary style.

I do have some exciting plans….. I am currently having my garage extended to create my own workshop. My business is expanding and I can no longer fit all my paints, products, brushes and furniture I’m working on in my dining room. I will be running some small workshops from here to help grow others confidence in painting furniture, vases, styling props and to encourage them to follow their dreams or just have a break away from their everyday routine.

I find painting therapeutic. I zone out into my own little world! I don’t think my brain ever stops thinking about what I can paint, style or my next business venture. I absolutely love what I do and I have already met so many inspirational people in the industry in the last year. I cannot wait to see what the future brings for Finn Interiors and it is such an honour to be featured in this magazine.
